Family Planning Outreach Specialist

Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing group workshops, individual education, supported referrals and social media presence to increase family planning utilization at sub-recipient family planning agencies. Assess the reproductive health and sexuality education needs of the community through direct contact and other appropriate assessment techniques. Develop and maintain close collaborations with ABCD programs throughout Boston’s neighborhoods as well community based social service agencies, substance abuse recovery and treatment programs, re-entry programs, individual and family shelters, and other public health and social service programs that serve reproductive age individuals to maximize awareness of availability of services and navigate supported referrals. Provide referrals and assure smooth access to reproductive and sexual health care services, HIV and STD counseling and testing, and substance abuse services. This may include assisting clients in making appointments. Perform other related duties as assign from time to time.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and one to three years of experience in outreach/education required. Bachelor’s degree in sociology, psychology, health education, or related field preferred. Experience in family planning counseling, community health education and working with adolescents in and out of the school system required. Must be familiar with greater Boston area community, social service agencies and non-traditional public health partners. Excellent knowledge of reproductive/family planning and sexual health education that includes HIV/STI, HIV Testing and HepC substance use. Must be willing to travel and work extensively in diverse neighborhoods and be flexible to work early morning, evening and weekend hours. Bilingual background with knowledge of speaking and reading of at least one other language, preferably Spanish a plus.
