Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for coordinating and instructing ESOL classes for groups at various levels as well as conducting on-site and offsite educational activities to enhance students’ ability to acquire the English language. Assist in the development and design of the program including planning and developing curricula, materials, educational tools, resources, etc. Provide academic counseling and referrals as needed. Develop and maintain individual learning plans based on learner goals, and needs assessments. Develop lesson plans that include the five required components: content, concepts, skill, vocabulary, and learning curve of adult education students with these disciplines. Provide students with at least 4 individual meetings per year to gain information about student’s growth and any additional educational assistance students may need. Attend monthly staff meetings and common planning meetings to ensure best practices are put into place. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences or related field, with a minimum of one to three years of experience working with adult and/or youth learners and relevant ABE, ASE, or ESOL teaching experience required. Related coursework in second language acquisition or ESOL certification preferred. Certification in administering and scoring the TABE Reading and Writing and BEST Plus 2.0 preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum design, development, assessment, and evaluation. Must be able to put in place current theories and principles of Second Language acquisition in the classroom. Demonstrated ability to use a participatory, team-based, learner-centered approach. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team. Bilingual skills are a plus. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

Please note: this is a part-time position for 10 hours per week and is temporary until May 29, 2020.
