Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for contributing to and promoting the growth and strategic development of the agency, bringing new ideas, innovations and energy to the department. Work closely with the President/CEO and Executive team, as well as the Director of Communications, writing and delivering timely, effective and relevant press releases and media advisories. Along with the Director, coordinate development and encourage proactive attention to the agency’s branding, messaging and positioning. Develop and sustain positive relationships with media contacts for the agency in order to facilitate delivery of agency news, events and position on larger political and social issues. Track, monitor and report on communication strategies and the media’s response. Oversee department in the absence of the Director. Work with Director and other management teams to identify ABCD digital and social media purposes and goals including brand awareness and specific goals for community growth in numbers and by segment. Oversee ABCD social media channels, advising on social media strategy, creation and deployment of premium content/social assets, in order to grow and engage social communities while serving as the point person for related activities. Write and edit social media and website content for the agency and ensure appropriate distribution through social media platforms. Develop and implement social media plans and special campaigns for the agency and its programs and events, including information on platforms, goals, tactics and execution of each plan. Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, communications or related field, and at least five years of experience in public relations, writing and social media required. Must have superb written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the agency and to working within the Boston community and/or human services programs. Strong ability to engage various audiences. Demonstrated understanding of written, social and digital media, including working knowledge and oversight of digital advertising, analytics, social insights, and metrics in order to continuously improve performance. Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
