Action for Boston Community Development is a nonprofit human services organization that each year provides more than 100,000 low income residents in the Greater Boston region with the tools and resources needed to transition from poverty to stability and from stability to success. 

The Director of Planning, Evaluation & Equity is responsible for leadership, oversight and support of a professional team responsible for planning, data collection, reporting processes, and policy-related community activities. This position focuses on promoting economic mobility and equity for the individuals and communities we serve. 

Duties include:

  • Develop strategic plans for advancing organizational goals.
  • Oversee community needs assessment to support program design, advocacy and equity initiatives.
  • Coordinate organization-wide equity initiatives, overseeing the integration of equity principles into programming.
  • Develop and support systems, structures and metrics needed to effectively manage the goals of equity initiatives.
  • Coordinate with other ABCD departments on policy program and development.
  • Oversee the development and management of data collection and evaluation processes, with an emphasis on equity outcomes.
  • Provide support for program and proposal development, with particular emphasis in the areas of equity, diversity and inclusion.
  • Oversee planning and reporting processes related to the Community Services Block Grant and other funding sources.
  • Build networks with other organizations and groups which provide community-based programs and advocacy.
  • Oversee community engagement activities related to discussion of policy and equity issues.
  • Oversee ongoing analysis of public policy issues.
  • Serve as staff liaison to Neighborhood Program/ Planning and Evaluation Committee of ABCD Board of Directors.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in planning, social services, human services management or related field, and 5 to 10 years of related experience in program management, planning, and organizational development required.
  • Master’s degree and previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in non-profit or public sector program development and policy analysis.
  • Extensive familiarity with management information systems, regulatory and legislative processes, and local, state and federal government organizational structures as related to social welfare program administration.
  • Experience with development and coordination of equity initiatives and/or equity training preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, statistical organizational, oral and written communication skills.
