Overview:

Action for Boston Community Development is a nonprofit human services organization that each year provides more than 100,000 low income residents in the Greater Boston region with the tools and resources needed to transition from poverty to stability and from stability to success. 

Child Care Choices of Boston (CCCB) at Action for Boston Community Development offers support, resources, technical assistance, training and childcare expertise to families, childcare providers, employers and the larger community. The Community Outreach and Education Coordinator is responsible for the outreach, education, and collaboration within the larger community of Child Care Choices of Boston’s service delivery area, particularly around information and referral services for parents, childcare issues and CCCB programs and services.

Duties include:  

  • Lead, actively assist, and interact on a daily basis with the Early Childhood Information & Referral Specialists. 
  • Conduct community outreach through presentations, forums, and written materials, as it relates to quality child care, available subsidies, information and referral services available to parents.
  • Responsible for the marketing and promotion of CCCB’s childcare information and referral and subsidy services.
  • Develop, identify and distribute educational materials to parents and the larger community, in coordination with the Information and Referral/Work Family Services Departments.
  • Identify community resources, organizations, grant and other program opportunities related to parent and community education that will further CCCB’s mission.
  • Act as liaison between Community Partnership Councils, Head Start, Family Networks, state agencies, and other early care and education stakeholders that serve CCCB families.
  • Represent CCCB at meetings with external agencies and internal ABCD programs related education and training, health care, housing and other social services in order to expand collaboration, broaden community partnerships, and increase awareness of CCCB services related to affordable, quality child care.
  • Develop and coordinate training for parents with a focus on child care issues, parenting and other family issues, in coordination with the CCCB Training Department.
  • Responsible for compiling statistics and other information for monthly reporting.
  • Provide training and staff development. 
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, social work or related field, and one to three years of related work experience required.
  • Related work experience in community outreach and program promotion preferred.
  • Demonstrated good communication and presentation skills.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, Haitian Creole and/or Chinese Mandarin is preferred.  
  • Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
