Overview:

Action for Boston Community Development is a nonprofit human services organization that each year provides more than 100,000 low income residents in the Greater Boston region with the tools and resources needed to transition from poverty to stability and from stability to success. 

Duties include:

  • Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring student transition plans as students enter and exit ABCD’s University High School (UHS), as well as provide continued support services for graduates of UHS, including career development and educational advancement. 
  • Facilitate transition and work-based learning opportunities by collaborating with CTE partners.
  • Coordinate intake and disenrollment interviews with the School Guidance Counselor. 
  • Facilitate career and work-based learning seminar for students. 
  • Support asynchronous learning coursework.
  • Facilitate the completion of career assessments and implement post-secondary transition plans for every student exiting UHS; 
  • Work as an active member of the student support team on all issues related students and alumni.  
  • Provide transition support and follow-up services for graduates and former participants of the program. 
  • Manage required data and information reporting systems by documenting student progress and outcomes.
  • Develop sustainable relationships with the local college, university and training program admission offices and secondary bridge programs; 
  • Develop sustainable relationships with local employers and industry professionals; 
  • Develop an alumni network and facilitate networking events; 
  • Maintain contacts and resources for alumni. 
  • Maintain alumni newsletter, website, social media and other communication materials; 
  • Prepare and enter monthly data and written reports as appropriate on both qualitative and quantitative results on program activities, including but not limited to participant evaluations, program contacts, program agendas, demographic information, and referrals;
  • Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
     

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a highschool diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in education, social work or other related human services field preferred.
  • Degree in Education, Social Work or other related human services field preferred
  • Minimum of one to three years related experience working with urban youth required
  • Experience in workforce development preferred
  • Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
  • Bilingual skills preferred
