Overview:

Action for Boston Community Development is a nonprofit human services organization that each year provides more than 100,000 low income residents in the Greater Boston region with the tools and resources needed to transition from poverty to stability and from stability to success.

ABCD offers a range of programs to help the youth of Boston stay in school, prepare for a career, and build a strong foundation for a successful future.

Duties Include:

  • Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of a comprehensive follow up program to provide supports to students who have received services through youth services.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining close collaborations with all ABCD youth serving programs throughout Boston neighborhoods as well as youth serving community based social service agencies, substance abuse recovery and treatment programs, individual and family shelters to adequately refer clients.
  • Prepare and enter data and written reports as appropriate on both qualitative and quantitative results on program activities, including but not limited to participant evaluations, program contacts, program agendas, demographic information, and referrals.
  • Assist supervisor and related case manager on developing and implementing strategies to better serve and reconnect youth alumni.
  • Assist case managers and youth in developing their post-program plans. This includes but is not limited to: post-secondary education, training program, military or employment
  • Make referrals to service providers and agencies in the areas of educational and occupational needs.
  • Develop and maintain an alumni database for past ABCD participants in youth services.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a High School diploma/GED and one to three years related experience required. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education or related field preferred.
  • Experience in facilitating large group workshops preferred.
  • Experience working with youth preferred.  
  • Ability to organize, and experience facilitating, group/education workshops.
  • Ability to multi-task and to remain highly organized.
  • Ability to deal sensitively with individuals of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
