Overview:

Action for Boston Community Development is a nonprofit human services organization that each year provides more than 100,000 low income residents in the Greater Boston region with the tools and resources needed to transition from poverty to stability and from stability to success. 

Established in 2006, Ostiguy High School is the first high school in the nation to be accredited by the Association of Recovery Schools. Serving 75 students annually, we feature small class sizes, certified teachers with expertise in both their subject area and working with youth in recovery, afterschool and summer opportunities for tutoring and catching up with course credits, along with standardized test preparation to address students' specific needs.

Duties Include:

  • Oversee school activities that include case management, outreach, intake and daily operations. 
  • Promote and facilitate community partnerships by regularly collaborating with other social services agencies that can help enhance the services provided by the high school. 
  • Coordinate school activities related to daily operations, case management, outreach, intake and logistics.  
  • Orient new students to the program and assist them in their transition to the high school.  
  • Assist in managing attendance policies, procedures and documentation. 
  • Coordinate all mentors, tutors and volunteers.
  • Coordinate and oversee the intake process, including outreach. 
  • Under the direction of the Director, coordinate and oversee yearly events and academic activities such as portfolio reviews and graduation ceremonies.
  • Assist in the collection and maintenance of all statistical data, assessment data, and eligibility documentation. 
  • Conduct appropriate support workshops for the diverse consumer and collaterals of the high school.
  • Oversee the maintenance of counseling records, guidance records, record related assessment data, and individual Service Strategies.
  • Assist in grant writing for the development and implementation of programs.
  • Assist the counseling team in case conferencing. 
  • Actively participate in and attend required meetings and/or trainings on and off site.
  • Act as an integral part of the staff advocating for student needs in the proposals of new policy.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time. 

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field with one to three years of related management experience required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with close attention to detail. 
  • Ability to attend and participate in community activities, trainings, and meetings with the flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
