Overview:

Action for Boston Community Development is a nonprofit human services organization that each year provides more than 100,000 low income residents in the Greater Boston region with the tools and resources needed to transition from poverty to stability and from stability to success. 

ABCD Head Start & Children's Services is a family development program serving children from birth to age five, as well as pregnant women. Part of a highly successful national program, we provide comprehensive services to the whole family and foster a safe, creative learning environment to support children in school readiness and their social-emotional development. The Business & Grants Coordinator is responsible for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of financial processes and reporting systems within ABCD Head Start & Children’s Services, including those that facilitate workflows with other ABCD departments, external partners, and funders. 

Duties include:

  • Responsible for the development, enhancement, and maintenance of financial processes and reporting systems within ABCD Head Start & Children’s Services, including those that facilitate workflows with other ABCD departments, external partners, and funders;
  • Oversee billing, invoice tracking, and fiscal monitoring for various grants;
  • Manage certain data components of federal and state grants;
  • Execute financial reporting for partner programs, funders, auditors, and others as needed;
  • Assist in grant writing, budget development, budget amendments, and grant closeouts as requested;
  • Provide support in preparation for, and participation in, financial audits and monitoring visits;
  • Create internal financial reports for the Governing Bodies, Central Leadership, Content Area Coordinators, Program Leadership, and others as needed;
  • Spearhead the development, documentation, and implementation of new fiscal processes, systems, and tools to increase efficiency within ABCD Head Start & Children’s Services;
  • Provide support and training to program staff on fiscal matters;
  • Attend and participate in community activities, meetings and trainings on and off site;
  • Engage in ongoing staff development to expand professional skills;
  • Assist with other fiscal and administrative work as needed. 

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in business, human services, or related field required, Master’s Degree preferred;
  • Three to five years of experience in finance, accounting, data analysis, grant management, or other fiscal-oriented role required. Experience in the non-profit sector and/or grants management experience preferred;
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets required, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite required.
  • Ability to learn and monitor other database and financial systems used within the agency necessary;
  • Adeptness for working with large datasets, complex budget structures, and account systems, with the capacity to learn new financial systems;
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and timeliness around deliverables;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, mathematical and analytical abilities, and interpersonal skills;
  • High level of professionalism, including maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information at all times;
  • Demonstrative initiative, drive, and critical thinking capacity;
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a culturally diverse, interdisciplinary team.
