Essential Duties:

  • Maintain all employee files and payroll registers, ensuring the confidentiality of all records and transactions.
  • Analyze time cards for accuracy and compliance with Agency policies and procedures, and input, batch and balance time cards, ensuring that only active employees with authorized time cards are paid and that terminated employees are not paid after their termination date.
  • Process new hires, changes, terminations and miscellaneous Change of Status information, and calculate retroactive pay increases.
  • Process court ordered and Massachusetts Department of Revenue / IRS payroll deductions and prepare check requests for timely payments.
  • Process and balance employee expense forms for reimbursement.
  • Prepare and maintain registers for all manual checks, void checks, stop payments, and re-issued checks.
  • Process requests for wage and salary information and provide information to Payroll Supervisor for distribution to department managers as requested.
  • Assist with the weekly payroll check process for agency payrolls.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years of work experience required. Previous payroll experience preferred.  
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership, staff, volunteers, and peers;
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse cultural and economic background.
