Overview:

Action for Boston Community Development is a nonprofit human services organization that each year provides more than 100,000 low income residents in the Greater Boston region with the tools and resources needed to transition from poverty to stability and from stability to success. 

Duties Include:

  • Responsible for producing and submitting proposals, letters of inquiry, grant reports, and other fundraising materials in support of the programs operated by ABCD.
  • Assist in the identification and cultivation of public and private funding sources. 
  • Maintain records of program grant needs, potential grant sources, grants submitted, grants awarded, and other related information. 
  • Consult with ABCD program and planning staff to identify potential projects for funding, and to design programs to be represented in grant applications.
  • Prepare proposal text and other materials for grant submissions, working with program and finance department staff to prepare proposal budgets.
  • Ensure applications and grant reports are submitted by specified deadlines, using a variety of on-line portals and other methods.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with funding sources. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social service discipline or related field and one to three years of experience in fundraising, grant writing or related work is required. 
  • Knowledge of Boston-area social service systems, and of funding sources for human services.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and ability to work in a team required. 
  • Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
