Overview:

Action for Boston Community Development is a nonprofit human services organization that each year provides more than 100,000 low income residents in the Greater Boston region with the tools and resources needed to transition from poverty to stability and from stability to success. 

Duties Include:

  • Responsible for for providing leadership in building ABCD’s capacity to connect with peer agencies, funders, and community institutions, while creating enhanced impact for policy and program innovation.
  • Expand and deepen connections with key organizations in human services, industry, education, and related fields, focusing on issues of strategic importance.
  • Lead in pursuing ABCD’s strategic goals for program growth through deepening agency relationships with current and potential funders.
  • Lead in development of key policy and program initiatives through deepening ABCD’s connections with local researchers and thought leaders.
  • Enhance links with low-income communities through expanding connections to diverse emerging and grassroots organizations.
  • Develop public-facing events, media presentations, interactive programs and targeted publications to reach diverse audiences in support of strategic goals.
  • Support ABCD’s racial equity initiatives through partnerships and linkages.
  • Assist in ABCD community needs assessment and strategic planning activities. 
  • Assist in outcomes-based evaluation of ABCD programs.
  • Assist in activities related to ABCD’s receipt of Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funds, and support enhanced partnerships with Community Action networks locally and nationally.
  • Support dissemination of ABCD information through collaboration on the production of public-facing information products.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Social Services or related field, and five to ten years’ experience in human services planning, policy or program development required. 
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field strongly preferred. Experience with public engagement activities and print or electronic content development strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a busy, multi-tasking environment which requires self-direction and good judgment.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
