ABCD Head Start & Children's Services is a family development program serving children from birth to age five, as well as pregnant women. Part of a highly successful national program, we provide comprehensive services to the whole family and foster a safe, creative learning environment to support children in school readiness and their social-emotional development. We are looking for dedicated individuals who want to make a meaningful impact on the communities we serve!

Essential Duties:
  • Responsible for providing infant and toddler children at the local Early Head Start center with a nurturing, safe and healthy environment and individualized learning experiences to help them develop socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally in achieving social competency.
  • Provide a balance of open-ended exploration, teacher directed activities, structured activities and sensory-based play activities to foster the children’s curiosity, engagement, reasoning and problem-solving.
  • Provide care such as diapering, toileting, feeding, dressing and hygiene in a relaxed and individualized manner to foster the children’s emotional development and help them gain independence in completing these tasks.
  • Develop activities and strategies to engage parents in the educational aspects of the program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Job Qualifications:
  • Must work cooperatively as a member of a teaching team, with program staff and with parents
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a professional manner required
  • Bilingual in a language spoken by families served by ABCD preferred
  • Must be able to engage in physical activities while attending to the needs of the center’s infant and toddler children and/or while moving classroom equipment
  • Must be able to work sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds
Teacher Level Specific Requirements:
Infant/Toddler Teacher 1 - High school diploma or equivalent. Active Child Development Associate Credential with an Infant and Toddler endorsement or EEC Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher certified with experience teaching infant toddler age children required. EEC Infant Toddler Teacher certified preferred.

Infant/Toddler Teacher 2 - Associate’s degree with training or equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development and experience teaching infant toddler age children. EEC Infant Toddler Teacher certified preferred.

Infant/Toddler Teacher 3 - Bachelor's degree with training or equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development and experience teaching infant toddler age children. EEC Infant Toddler Teacher certified preferred.

Infant/Toddler Teacher 4 - Master’s degree with training or equivalent coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development and experience teaching infant toddler age children. EEC Infant Toddler Teacher certified preferred.
