Overview:

Action for Boston Community Development is a nonprofit human services organization that each year provides more than 100,000 low income residents in the Greater Boston region with the tools and resources needed to transition from poverty to stability and from stability to success.

Duties include:

  • Responsible for assisting the Director of Workforce Development and Deputy Director with data collection, data analysis, data reporting, and data systems activity.
  • Assist in the advancement of the Department’s mission and objectives through the analysis of labor market information (LMI), which will include tracking and identifying occupational, industry, wage, and employer trends.
  • Work with department staff to record, track, and report on program data (metrics), including the data systems within the one-stop career center system, on a quarterly basis.
  • Work with the Director of Workforce Development and Deputy Director to aggregate and report program data.
  • Work as a liaison between Program Staff and the Planning Department on the development and reporting of Community Services Block Grant metrics.
  • Engage in data analysis within and across all programs to assist in program improvement, the development of program and Department strategies, and external reporting as necessary.
  • Perform in-depth and frequent ad-hoc analysis to analyze data trends and to create data visualizations.
  • Lead and assist in the analysis of the use of various internal and external data reporting systems to ensure data consistency and enhance data integrity.
  • Create ad-hoc reports and dashboards.
  • Utilize and stay current with various labor market tools, including but not limited to, Lightcast, Burning Glass, EconoVue, the Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, Census.gov, and the Massachusetts Department of Economic Research. 
  • Create content for internally-utilized labor market information reports.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to other staff members on LMI and data.
  • Assist with design of effective data collection forms; develop and test data collection forms.
  • Participate in staff meetings to improve strategic use of data as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.
     

Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in social science or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in engaging in program data collection, reporting and analysis is required.
  • Experience working with any of the identified labor market data sources a plus.
  • A background in workforce development a plus.
  • A confident individual who has experience working with data collection, management, and analysis.
  • Must have willingness to learn and become competent in data systems unique to ABCD and to the MassHire Metro North Career Centers.
  • An ability to clearly and effectively present information and ideas.
  • Experience working with labor market data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
  • A comfort level in creating and using database systems.
  • Familiarity with Emsi, Burning Glass, and EconoVue.
  • Good communication skills by phone and email required. 
  • Flexibility, initiative, and ability to work in a team and independently as required. 
  • Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with individuals of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
